I didn’t come into birth work the traditional way.
I came into it as an

athlete and a coach.

Susanna

Movement has always been a huge part of my life. I spent years training, competing and coaching in the strength space. Working closely with powerlifting athletes, helping them build strong, capable bodies that could perform under pressure.

I’ve always been drawn to understanding the body. How it moves, adapts and what makes a difference.

And alongside that, I’ve always been someone who goes deep into research and understanding how things work.

My first birth

When I fell pregnant, I did what most women are doing now.

  • I listened to the podcasts.

  • I did the classes.

  • I got into MGP.

  • I learned the breathing techniques.

  • I understood the birth positions.

  • I had a doula.

On paper, I was doing everything right but there was something I hadn’t quite realised yet. I hadn’t prepared my body in the same way I had prepared for other performance events.

I had spent years preparing my body for

performance

  • For strength.

  • For physical demand.

  • For safety in my mind & body.

But I hadn’t approached labour like that and that disconnect really impacted my birth. Despite all the education and support, I ended up having a caesarean for ‘failure to progress’

A diagnosis that still sits with me.

That experience changed
the way I saw birth completely.

Birth is one of the most physically demanding things the body will ever do and yet so many women are never shown how to prepare their body for it.

So I went back to what I knew.
I started approaching birth like I would prepare for a competition.

My Second birth

I did things very differently.

  • I trained my body through drills.

  • I focused on mobility in specific positions.

  • I interviewed my birth team members, because it was the most important role I was ever going to hire for.

My second birth was a planned homebirth. It unfolded over two hours & it felt completely different.

It was empowering, redemptive, calm & aligned.

I don't just teach women about birth.

I help them prepare their body for it in a way that's practical, grounded and actually useful when the time comes.

I used to coach athletes, now I coach mums, and in a lot of ways,
it’s the same.

  • We’re preparing the body.

  • We’re building capacity.

  • We’re enabling trust in how it thinks and moves.

Just in a very different environment.

I want women to feel capable in their body.

  • To feel connected to how they move.

  • To understand what their body needs.

  • To prepare in a way that actually supports the birth they’re working towards.

Because every woman deserves to feel seen, heard and held.
